The Cumberland Migration
In the early 1900s, George Atkinson from Cumberland migrated south and rented a farm in the Meon Valley. They were part of a wider migration from the North East, and the first PDF is an essay by Cyril Wren on the Cumberland migration to North East Hampshire.
The other PDF is an article by Denys Ryder for Meon Matters which draws on the Wren article but focuses on the Atkinsons of South and Lower farms.
