1910, this shows Forge Sound with white exterior, the canopy over the butcher's shop at Riverside, and Hockley Cottage, since burned down, on what is today Washer's Triangle.
Riverside is a 14th century hall house built next to what was once a ford across the River Meon leading to the Court House. In th e19th and 20th century it was a butcher's shop, with its own barn for animals bought on the hoof and abattoir.
