Sale of the Institute & Development of new Village Hall

PDFs attached to this page relate to the process of selling off the old Institute. Minutes of meetings of the Management Committee, not digitised, are in the Library, X/12. Sales Particulars and correspondence report the price achieved through private sale, and the building of the new Village Hall, The originals are in the Library, X/3. Other correspondence, with agents, auctioneers &c, which have not been digitised, are in the Library, X/4. Two PDFs contain a report by Michael Blakstad, summarising the events covered in these documents, and  a Timeline of the  process. The text of a speech by given by F.G.Standfield in 1995 records the full story of the decision to demolish and sell off the old Institute and build a new Village Hall off Workhouse Lane. A letter written by F.G.S. in 1994 concerning faulty roofing at the Hall is also attached as a PDF. Originals in the Library, X/5. Extensive correspondence with potential grant awarding bodies is contained in the Library X/6 – X/10, including Newsletters  issued by the Village Hall Committee in 1973 (some documents are large files). Notes summarising key points are attached as a PDF. Architects drawings showing designs from January to July are in the Library, X/11. X/12, large files, contains new Constitution of Village Hall, Policy of Secrecy, Survey of possible sites and Statement on proposed size of Hall.
