Robinson won his VC in the Dardanelles in WWI and was later promoted to Admiral. He retired to Langrish after WWII
The War Memorial in the High Street was designed by Ninian Comper and opened in 1923. Comper also designed the East Window inn All Saints Church as a war memorial, depicting the patron saints of the countries which joined in the war against the Germans.
