The small hut on the left was a kiosk where a fishmonger from Winchester sold his wares once a week, then the barn of what was Coles' dairy, then the Gaite House where Coles operated his shop, then Glenthorne House. Tilbury's shop, later Adams and then Savage & Parsons is on the other side of the street. 1910, this shows Forge Sound with white exterior, the canopy over the butcher's shop at Riverside, and Hockley Cottage, since burned down, on what is today Washer's Triangle.
