Alan Newbold contacted us from Tamworth in Staffordshire in August 2014 with information about his forebears, the Budd family. Although the family had lived in East Meon for 300 years, there are none left in the village today.

Alan is providing us with more information about his Owen and Albert Budd both of whom served in the Great war.  Owen  miraculously survived while Albert  was aboard the Battleship HMS Bulwark when she blew up in 1914; he died after the war and his name is not recorded on the village War Memorial.

Alan has written an extensive account of the family history, which is attached as a PDF. His genealogy of the Budd family is also attached.
